The one-day floor is not a shortcut on prep. It still starts with a diamond grind to a CSP-3 profile and crack repair with rapid-set polyurea, the same foundation as any floor we pour. Polyaspartic sets in a few hours rather than overnight, so the base coat, the flake or color broadcast, and the clear topcoat can all go down in a single day with the cure windows compressed. The sequence runs grind, repair, base, broadcast, scrape, topcoat, and you have your garage back by evening.

Because the city was built from the 1970s forward, most garage slabs are young, flat, and structurally sound, so the crack repair is light and the prep is quick. That hardness is why a polyaspartic topcoat resists scratching from grit and holds up to hot tires that would soften a lesser coating.
One quiet advantage in Irvine’s climate is that polyaspartic tolerates a wider temperature and humidity window than epoxy. Epoxy gets fussy and slow when a garage runs cold in the morning, and it can blush or haze if humidity is high during cure. The reason we can compress all of that into one day is the cure chemistry plus a slab that does not fight us. On an older, damaged slab any one of those steps can balloon, which is why we do not promise the one-day turnaround until the owner has walked the garage and confirmed the slab is sound. When it is, the whole thing happens between morning and evening and you never lose the garage for more than a single day.
How polyaspartic differs from epoxy
It helps to think of the two as partners rather than competitors. Epoxy is the slower-curing base resin that builds a hard, thick film but ambers under UV. Polyaspartic is the fast-cure, UV-stable layer used both as the clear topcoat over a decorative floor and as a full pigmented system on its own. On a one-day garage we often pour a polyaspartic base and a polyaspartic topcoat for speed; on a display metallic floor the epoxy carries the swirl and the polyaspartic protects it. The system is matched to the goal: speed, sun stability, or both.
What a polyaspartic floor costs in Irvine
A residential polyaspartic system is priced per square foot installed. A full flake-broadcast polyaspartic patio or pool deck runs at the upper end because of the added broadcast and the larger square footage. When the goal is an elaborate metallic showpiece, an epoxy base under a polyaspartic topcoat is usually the better build.
