The speed is not a thinner, weaker product. Polyaspartic is an aliphatic polyurea, and the cure is a real chemical reaction between two components rather than a slow evaporation. What makes it fast is that the reaction is engineered to complete in hours, and what makes it workable is that the cure speed can be dialed with the catalyst, so the crew has enough working time to lay the coat down clean before it sets. A typical residential polyaspartic goes down at roughly 8 to 12 mils across base and topcoat, thinner than a high-build epoxy but with better abrasion resistance and a harder wear surface for the film thickness. That hardness is exactly what resists the hot-tire pickup that ends cheaper coatings, and hot-tire pickup is a bigger threat in Riverside than almost anywhere, because a slab that has baked all day makes tires soft and sticky.

How polyaspartic differs from epoxy
It helps to think of the two as partners rather than competitors. Epoxy is the slower-curing base resin that builds a hard, thick film but ambers under UV. Polyaspartic is the fast-cure, UV-stable layer used both as the clear topcoat over a decorative floor and as a full pigmented system on its own.
